lonavala hotels

Take a look at a map, and glance all the way to the bottom. The Tierra del Fuego archipelago, on the southern tip of Argentina, is one of the planet's most inhospitable landscapes. But it is also full of lovely vacation destinations that can be surprisingly warm and beautiful during most of the year. Of course, this excludes all the tiny islands of only desolation and ice.

Trips to Tierra del Fuego can include pretty much anything you want - skiing, hiking, mountaineering, and even fishing. The Irigoyen River is an excellent place to fish during an Argentina vacation. The picturesque river has high banks surrounded by native lenga trees, which block the chilly wind. It is a relatively small river so there is no need for double-handed spey roods or 100-foot casts (that last bit was for all you fishing experts out there). Instead, two rods are suggested, an eight-weight rod is usually sufficient, but a 10-weight helps when it gets windy. The Irigoyen River empties into the southernmost Atlantic, only 700 miles from Antarctica. It is here you can catch 20-pound sea-run browns. However, the river has a few deep holes where the fish like to hide. You have to be a really good fisherman to be able to catch one.

On your trip here, be sure your enjoy your Latin America fishing trip with an Argentina style. Lunch here almost always includes a large helping of grilled meat with a side of vegetables accompanied by a hearty malbec wine. Delight in a succulent leg of lamb and wild mushrooms then head back out to catch dinner. Actually, after such a feast one should probably follow the custom of a long siesta. This welcomed tradition is perfect for a relaxing vacation in Patagonia, and it won't mess up your fishing schedule. The best sea-trout fishing hours are just after dark, between 9 and 11 pm. It is a different kind of fishing, as you can't see and must rely solely on touch.

When you do catch your first large fish, the rush is intense. Then, like fishing goes, there will be long lulls before you catch your next fish. Keep at it, but if you give up at least you're in Argentina where you can enjoy a good meal and gaze up at the Southern Cross lighting the sky and ponder how crazy it is that you're sitting at the bottom of the world.
